deptiva is a London-based interdisciplinary artist and multi-instrumentalist whose work is ultimately about experimentation and play; where sound, sculpture, film and performance become channels to process experiences, build connections, and discuss ideas.

Awarded a Leverhulme Arts Scholarship to study at the Royal College of Art, deptiva completed their Master’s degree in Sculpture in 2025. Building on their background in sound art and experimental music, they expanded their practice to include large scale multimedia installations and sculptures, providing a richer context in which to develop their work. During this period, deptiva’s practice concentrated on their research into the blackpill, an extreme subgroup within the incel community. A key element of this work was a series of audio recordings of monologues from self-described incels, which deptiva responded to with an array of instruments, recording an imagined dialogue with the participants. These recordings were then placed within new sculptural environments, separating them from the online worlds they inhabit, and revealing the vulnerability, despair, and fractured sense of self that is often found beneath.

As a musician, deptiva has primarily worked within the post-industrial and experimental spaces, switching between instruments as the sound palette requires. Their ‘home’, however, is the clarinet, where they have a particular affinity for the bass, and enjoy playfully sculpting its tones through extended techniques, effects pedals, and loopers to create rich, textured improvisations that often form the basis for longer, more structured compositions.
